Advice Woman To Woman [by Miles 2 Go]

General Discussion:: Advice Woman To Woman
My husband and I are planning to sell our farm, move into a 5th wheel while he becomes a traveling employee. We have been looking at 5th wheels, new and used. I find the more I look the more confused I am becoming. I definitely know I want slide outs. If this is my primary home I don't want to feel cramped. I want a high R factor rating, preferrably a 4 season model.

How important is quality? Will a comparable less expensive model be appropriate for living in it a few years or have any seasoned traveling women found they wished they had gone for the upgraded model and spent the extra money? For instance, we looked at one model that was new for 45k and a used one for 45k. The used one was originally 100k when it was new. Obviously the used one has solid wood cabinets, corian counters, etc. Much better quality all the way around. Is this really important in a 5th wheel? Personally I would like the better quality, who wouldn't, but I am having a difficult time justifying the cost just because I like quality when I can certainly live with less. IF the other one is 'new' for the same price than I could probably find that brand or similar used from a personal seller for half the price. Is this the smarter way to go?

Do you have a definite view point on used versus new? Dealer vs private seller? Brands?

Is a full size refrigerator really necessary or have you found you can get by just fine with the smaller models that seem to be standard?

Do you have any advice on certain things you wished you had known before buying? Or other things to look for?

I would really like to hear some womens point of view on this subject.

Modoc County California [by forumposters]

Destinations:: Modoc County California
Last summer I visited Modoc County in an RV with my aunt and uncle. Modoc is a very nice place if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle that most people associate with big cities like L.A. and the Bay Area. I live in the Bay Area and this place is a great retreat I like to escape to when I get the chance. Thankfully, my aunt and uncle have a very nice RV which made the camping much more bearable. I don't like roughing it, and an RV is a must for me.

General Discussion:: RV Dumping
Careful dumping will prevent us from getting diseases. We also will be protected from any foul smells that will lead to irritation when we are camping already.

Let me add one more thing. Throw your trash at the door of your neighbor so that when he wakes up, he have something to clean up in the morning.

General Discussion:: Online On The Road
Communication nowadays are very much needed. Even when you are in vacation, the company might need something from what you have done or just an inquiry and keeping in touch with them is very easy through the internet. Having these devices in your RV will make you connected to the internet anywhere you go.

Better save first and then buy a new RV. These is not only true to RV but to everything you want to buy. Buying a new product will give you less problems than the ones that are used already.

Towing & Towables:: Double Towing
Now this is hard question for you might want to search for the locations that double towing is allowed. If you enter a state that prohibits double towing then you will be in trouble. Try searching first on what states allow double towing.

I have read one posts here about leveling blocks. I guess that would also do the job in trying to level your motorhome. Here is the link:
Leveling Motorhome with Plastic Blocks
